Ewha Institute for the Humanities is a multidisciplinary and convergent research institute where researchers of literature, history, philosophy, art, science, and technology gather together. Ewha Institute for the Humanities was established as a research institute in August 2007 to overcome the 'crisis' of humanities and actively respond to changes in knowledge, technology, and cultural environment in the 21st century. From November 2007 to August 2017, Ewha Institute for the Humanities successfully carried out the Korea Research Foundation's project to support the Humanities Korea (HK) under the agenda of "Building and Spreading the Trans-Humanities.". We are confident that the posthuman research and East Asian knowledge research led in this process are not only a representative result of the Ewha Institute for the Humanities' multidisciplinary and convergent research, but also an important research achievement that has opened a new horizon in Korean humanities research. Since 2018, we are currently conducting research on "Ecology-Technology Criticism: Practice of Eco-Techne Humanities," a Key Research Institute project supported by National Research Foundation of Korea.

Ewha Institute for the Humanities publishes two academic journals; "Trans-Humanities", an academic journal indexed by the Korea Research Foundation, and "Journal of Posthuman Studies", which is indexed by the Scopus. EIH is also striving to share and spread research results by planning and publishing various series of academic books, including the "Eco-Techne Series". In addition, there are 23 undergraduate liberal arts courses available for the purpose of linking academic research results to university education, and the graduate program for Posthuman Studies has been established in hopes of building an academic ecosystem where research and education are in a virtuous cycle.

2007.08 Establishment of the Ewha Institute for the Humanities. Professor Jung-Hwa Oh was appointed as the first director.
