The fundamental objectives of the Research Ethics Rules(the Rules hereafter) shall be to prevent unjust ethical conduct by the authors of Journal of Peace and Unification(JPU hereafter).

근본적인 연구윤리 규칙의 목표는 평화와 통일 저널(JPU)의 저자들의 부당한 윤리적 행위를 막기 위함이다. 

Creating non-existent data or research results; plagiarism, i.e. using someone else’s research content or ideas without proper permission or indication of citation; and any other act that is not generally consented in the academic field are regarded as an unjustified research conduct.

존재하지 않는 자료나 연구 결과를 창조해 내는 것; 표절, 즉 적절한 허가나 인용의 표시가 없이 다른 사람의 연구내용이나 아이디어를 사용하는 것; 일반적으로 학문 분야에서 인정되지 않는 다른 어떤 행위는 부당한 연구행위로 간주한다.

Manuscripts with content applicable to the unjustified research conduct specified in Article 2 shall not be published.

제2조에서 명기된 부당한 연구 수행에 관련된 원고는 출판되지 않을 것이다. 

The Research Ethics Committee consists of five experts, including at least three members of Editorial Board of JPU, and has the authority to investigate in case of any suspicion. JPU editors are appointed by the committee members and the committee.

연구 윤리 위원회는 최소한 세 명의 JPU의 편집부의 구성원을 포함한 다섯 명의 전문가로 구성되어 있으며 의심의 여지가 있는 경우에 조사할 수 있는 권위를 가진다. JPU 편집자는 위원회 구성원과 위원회가 지명한다.  

Contributors to JPU have the right to use convenience of any communication in order to appeal to the accusation of unjustified research conduct against them. The committee will protect the interests of contributors.

기고자는 부당한 연구 수행에 대해 호소하기 위해 어떤 의사소통의 수단을 사용해도 된다. 위원회는 기고자의 이익을 보호할 것이다.

The committee should come up with a conclusion within two months from the beginning of an investigation.

위원회는 조사를 시작한 후 2개월 이내에 결론을 지어야 한다. 

All research regarding to humans or human-derived materials must be reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in advance according to the 「Bioethics and Safety Act」.The Editorial Board may request submission of documents confirming whether the IRB has approved or deliberation on the subject was exempted. 「생명윤리 및 안전에 관한 법률」에 따른 모든 인간 또는 인체유래물을 대상으로 하는 연구는 사전에 반드시 기관 생명윤리위원회(IRB)의 심의를 받아야 한다. 편집 위원회는 필요 시 기관생명윤리위원회(IRB) 승인 획득 여부 또는 심의 면제 여부를 확인할 수 있는 서류의 제출을 요구할 수 있다. (신설 2020.03.24.)

All pages of a paper including references should be double-spaced. Each page should be given one inch margin on the top, bottom and left and right sides. Total word count should not exceed 8,000 words, including appendices, tables and references. The content of a manuscript should be divided into six parts: (1) titles and abstracts, (2) text with endnotes, (3) references, (4) tables, (5) figures or illustrations, and (6) appendices.

1) The title and abstract should be on one page. The abstract should not exceed 120 words, and any information about the author’s identity should not appear on the page. Below the abstract, a list of about five keywords representing the article should be included.

2) Format and Usage

(A) Titles and Subtitles should be typed in bold letters and write the initial letter of each content word in capitals. Headings should be numbered in Roman numerals, and subheadings as 1, 2, 3,… ; (1), (2), (3), ... ; A, B, C,… and so forth as follows:

3) Indication of Sources

(A) In-Text Citations and Reference List follow the notation below.

o     Notate the last name and the year of publication in parentheses: (Goulder, 1963).

o     For joint authors, list the last names: (Smith & Goulder, 1988).

o     For institutional authorship, notate a full identity information: (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 1963)

o     Set apart a series of references with semi-colons: (Gibson & Bingham, 1985; Gross & Kinder 1996; Marcus et al. 1995).

o     Use a period at the end of a sentence. If parentheses come at the end of a sentence, put a period after the parentheses: …. (Kim, 2007) → … (Kim, 2007).

o     When writing a list of references, for materials only in Korean without English titles, the titles should be Romanized according to the rules of Revised Romanization System established in 2000 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Use a hyphen (-) in front of a postposition.

o     Depending on the type of data, the format in the examples below should be followed.

 (B) Exceptional Considerations

o   For the materials from North Korean origins, Digital Object identifier (DOI) numbers can be omitted.

o   If two authors share the same last name and the same publication year, the initials of the first names are attached. If the author’s name is unknown, the reference begins with the title.

(C) Footnotes should be marked below the relevant text, if necessary, and should be a minimum without exceeding three sentences. Citations and references are not written as footnotes. When citing within a footnote, the method is the same as notating in-text citation.

4) An Appendix must be marked separately, and a title and source are required.

5) An Address of Thanks should be written at the bottom of the first page of the paper as a comment before footnotes.

(A) If Research Grants are offered, list the institution or foundation that funded: This paper was supported by an NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea) Grant funded by the Korean Government (NRF-2019-****).

(B) If the research was previously presented at an academic conference, it should be specified.

모든 페이지들은 참고문헌을 포함하여 한 줄 띄어 쓰기를 해야 한다. 모든 가장자리는 각각 1인치의 간격이 주어져야 하며 부록, 표와 참고문헌을 포함하여 8,000단어를 넘지 말아야 한다. 원고는 (1) 제목과 초록 (2) 권말의 주의 본문 (3) 참고문헌, (4) 표, (5) 도형이나 삽화, (6) 부록으로 분리되어야 한다.

3) 출처 표기

(A)   본문 내 인용(In-text Citation)과 참고문헌 목록은 아래 표기를 따른다.

o     성과 출판연도를 괄호에 표시한다: (Goulder, 1963).

o     공동저자가 두 명일 때는 성을 표기한다: (Smith & Goulder, 1988).

o     기관의 저자는 완전한 열거에서 최소한의 신분을 표기한다: (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 1963)

o     세미콜론으로 일련의 참고문헌을 구분해 표기한다: (Gibson & Bingham, 1985; Gross & Kinder
1996; Marcus et al. 1995).

(C)   각주는 되도록 필요시 해당 본문 아래에 표시하되, 세 문장을 넘지 않도록 최소한으로 작성한다. 인용과 참고문헌을 각주로 표기하지 않는다. 각주 내에서 인용하는 경우, 그 방식은 내주 표기방식과 같다.

4) 부록은 따로 표시가 되어야 하며, 제목과 출처가 필요하다.

5) 사사표기는 각주 이전의 주(註)로 논문의 첫 쪽 하단에 기재한다.

(A)   연구비를 지원받은 경우, 지원한 기관이나 재단을 기재한다: This paper was supported by an NRF(National Research Foundation of Korea) Grant funded by the Korean Government(NRF-2019-****).

(B)   이전 학술대회에서 발표한 사실이 있는 경우에도 기재한다.

국문원고로 최초 투고할 경우, 추후 영어로 번역된 원고를 해당 양식에 맞춰서 다시 제출한다.
