College Writing provides the fundamentals of basic and advanced academic writing and includes a variety of writing skills for English ability tests and practical situations. The course will begin with a quick overview of the paragraph and progress to longer essays. In the final week, students will compose their own three to four page paper with credible research and correct citations to avoid unintentional plagiarism. In the final days, the course will teach the updated TOEFL writing and work-related cover letter writing for internships or job applications.
After completing this course, students will have the necessary skills to write papers of quality with solid organization, good style, correct grammar, and proper citations. There will be current readings for discussion and grammar and writing-style tips with each lesson. Lessons will be conducted in English to help students enhance language skills. Also, responsible and ethical use of generative AI will be introduced to support, not replace, the writing process.
* Note: Feedback on your papers will be given through in-class consultation and email. Please make sure to do the assignments on time and send no later than 9 pm to my email (sol521@mail.harvard.edu).
