Academic English I
The goal of these courses is to train students to acquire the basics of academic writing in English and enhance their ability to write correctly and accurately. These courses enable students to write academic papers properly. The first half of the course covers the basic of academic writing in English through the understanding of grammar and usage, punctuation and mechanics, style, and essay structure and organization. The second half focuses on research writing through the understanding and practice of research, documentation, notes and argumentation.
This course focuses on producing documents for integration into a Web site using current software (FrameMaker, Photoshop, Pagemaker, Acrobat, Quadralay WebWorks, RoboHELP, QuarkXpress, MS Word, Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.).
Professional Writing I (Creative Techniques for Non-Fiction Writing)
This course is designed to help students feel more comfortable being “writers” in English through the process of reading, writing, critiquing, and revising. The course introduces the process of composition and a variety of useful techniques for discovering ideas and information, planning an essay, drafting and revising. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to construct and organize effective essays in several different styles through weekly reading and writing assignments.
The primary goal of the internship is to offer the student a specialized writing experience that cannot be provided in the regular course work of the PWP. In addition, the internship can offer the student a chance to explore the practical aspects of a potential career choice and may also provide research and writing experience which she can use as a foundation for her master’s thesis.
Business Writing
This is a writing course that introduces and explores the basic principles of business writing and which will enable students to produce effective and accurate business-related documents. It also trains students to design and deliver effective oral presentations. The aim of this course is to enhance students’ communication and writing skills based on professional knowledge in the business field and to introduce skills for various types of business writing.
With the “Korean Wave” in Asia and the great interest in Korean movies in Western countries, swift communication of cultural media contents, such as Korean movies and TV series, is required. Based on an understanding of screen English and knowledge about the target society and culture, students will be working on the transition of Korean media contents into English.
This course covers the techniques of writing for journalism, from conceiving an idea to constructing a news story, and introduces the basic skills and conventions necessary for the editing process and the role and expectations for professional editors. Students in this class learn how to write short straight-news articles, long feature stories, and an academic paper on a journalism-related issue.

Technical Writing
This course is an introduction to technical writing, from both a practical and scholarly point of view. It focuses on learning basic principles of technical writing and transition through reading and analysis of models and on application of those principles to document design. Students will be applying the technical principles and translation to produce text, including memos, short reports, advertisements and user manuals. Students will also be reading professional and academic literature in the technical writing field in order to write an academic paper on a technical writing topic.
Academic English II
Professional Writing II (Introduction to Creative Writing—Fiction)
This course introduces and explores the nature of fiction writing through close and careful reading and discussion sessions. Throughout the course, students will learn and apply good elements that comprise successful fiction to writing short stories of their own.
PR & Travel Writing
This course has two components. It begins as an introduction to the public relations (PR) field, with a specific focus on PR writing. It then shifts focus to travel writing-which shares some features of PR writing. The goal of this course is to introduce basic theories, genres, and research methods for PR and tourism writing, which will enable students to understand the genres from both literary and market perspectives.
Digital Writing
The best way to globalize information is to use digital media. In this course, students will come to understand the features of digital media and learn how to write properly for these media. In particular, this course will provide students with the skills to produce web documents featuring Korean cultural contents.

Legal Writing
Students will learn how to facilitate legal communication among individuals and groups in various fields. Also they will learn how to write various types of legal documents in English through close analysis of legal documents and through other reading and writing assignments.
