New Woman as Global Phenomena and the Political Economy of their Representation

The project examines the various ways of representations and significance of the 'New Women' in Korea since its emergence as a global phenomenon in the first half of the 20th century. Simultaneously, the study tracks the positioning of the New Women within nation-state and gender systems and their cultural identity and economic agency.
