'Women Pathfinder: Modern Female Figures in the Field of Culture'
Research and Promotion Project of Modern Female Figures in the Field of Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2021-2023)
The project archives female figures in the field of modern-contemporary culture. Based on an in-depth investigation with interviews, literature, and photographic materials, the project illuminates the role and contributions of women who have been active but out of the spotlight in the cultural industry of Korea. Through social media and offline exhibitions, the project promotes the achievements of female pioneers in male-dominated fields.
❍ Cambodian Education
'Needs Assessment within Cambodian Higher Education for the Joint Development and Implementation of On-Offline Gender Studies Education Model and Contents'
Global Education Support Programme (National Research Foundation of Korea, 2021)
The demand survey was conducted to develop and implement on-offline secondary education models on gender within Cambodian universities. The survey assessed the demand and infrastructure for gender education within universities to form a network of gender researchers, NGOs, and policy institutions.
❍ Leadership Development
‘Leadership Development Program on Women’s Human Rights for Higher Education in Asia'
(United Board·Ewha Womans University, 1997-2005, 2017-2021)
The program aimed to promote women's rights and to reconstruct the ‘Asian woman’ as an active agent in feminist history and theory. It provided a site of international exchange among researchers and the development of specialized, local Women’s Studies curriculums. Workshops were hosted across eight countries in Asia and a series on Asian Women's Studies was published.
❍ New Woman
'New Woman as Global Phenomena and the Political Economy of Their Representation’
In-Depth Research for the Humanities & Social Sciences (National Research Foundation of Korea, 2006-2007)
The project examined the various representations of the 'New Woman' in Korea and their significance since its emergence as a global, social, and cultural phenomenon in the early 1900s. In other words, the project explored the role of the New Woman in forming a transnational culture. It also further evaluated the conflicts between the New Woman and the nation-state, existing gender systems, cultural identity, and economic agency.
