EIMS has established the field of specialized research through "Analytic Research on and Application of Computational Mathematics for Advanced Science and Technology," which strengthens the institute’s overall goal of acquiring international competitiveness by maximizing its research capacity in the field of cryptography, image processing and statistical techniques in biomedical technology. The aim for specialized research is closely related to the fields of information science, life science, and nanoscience, which are all based on the development of mathematics, statistics and theoretical physics. EIMS will be designated as the university’s institute of specialized research in order to enhance the synergy of all research results and the institute’s projects in specialized research through cooperating with other specialized organizations to conduct joint research. As the institute is already actively carrying out joint researches by many professors and researchers associated with the applications of cryptography and information protection, image processing, and biomedical technology, EIMS will serve as a global center for the development of both researches and promising researchers through managing a group of professors and researchers equipped to conduct and supervise these specialized researches.

The research to be carried out in EIMS is not limited to studies based only on theories in the field of mathematical science but expands to developing technology that can be directly utilized by the industry. The institute’s goal to enhance the synergy of interdisciplinary researches through integrating three specialized projects is illustrated through the following diagram below.

Agenda for Specializing the Institute’s Research

The research team is divided into three specialized fields of cryptography, image processing and biomedical technology, wherein these three specialized teams will conduct joint research within their own field of studies under the guidance of their respective supervisors, who will oversee research results and utilize them. The cooperation between these specialized fields and their joint researches will be mobilized through the leadership of the director and research managers. In addition, because the fields of encryption and image processing provide technologies that form the foundation for industries specializing in IT, R&D groups and educational sectors are cooperating with these fields. Moreover, the field of biomedical technology of EIMS provides the foundation for interdisciplinary research by assisting studies that analyze multi-dimensional and multi-structured data obtained in the specialized fields of life science and nanoscience.

In order to carry out the institute’s projects of specialized research, EIMS will strategically invite research professors and doctoral researchers who are competent in executing the institute’s research plan. In addition, EIMS plans to host regular academic seminars on specialized research and actively participate in both domestic and international academic conferences to promptly accommodate recent academic results and thus secure its research competitiveness. The results obtained through these plans will be applied in educational sectors by opening courses that have reconsidered these outcomes. The agendas for specializing the institute’s research are illustrated through following diagram below.

The goal of this specialization operation is to divide into stages of infrastructure construction, leap and maturity, and to create an organic research environment to maximize the synergy effect of the specialization operation. The plan will be developed through concrete action plans as follows.
