The Asian Center for Women’s Studies (ACWS) at Ewha Womans University successfully held the international conference “B/ordering the Global: Transnational Feminist Critiques from Asia” from July 9 to 11, 2026. The conference brought together scholars, researchers, activists, practitioners, and students from across regions to examine borders not merely as geographical lines, but as ordering practices that govern mobility and settlement, labor and care, reproduction and health, technology and surveillance, and the conditions under which certain lives, bodies, and futures are made visible, legitimate, or disposable.
Centering Asia as a generative ground for transnational feminist critique, the conference explored how contemporary border regimes and everyday hierarchies are being reshaped through gender, race, sexuality, disability, migration, climate crisis, care, and social reproduction. Through both in-person and online sessions, the conference created a critical forum for sharing knowledge, building conversations across disciplines and fields, and imagining more equitable and sustainable futures beyond borders.
