Goal of establishment
Today’s development in science and technology is crossing over the borders of closely related sciences and demanding for the advent of a new field of study. This academic trend is being visualized through various converged interdisciplinary curricula and programs at the graduate level.
Above all, the convergence of the chemistry and life & pharmacutical science fields is essential for understanding the molecular biology of basic natural science as well as disease, aging, etc. This department has been established to meet the need for a new converged major that can maximize the synergy effects of such disciplines.
The curriculum seeks to understand the basics of the material world and biological phenomena, which will not only help to foster a professional workforce for the discovery of new basic source matters and creation of new growth engines in the field of biopharmaceuticals, but which is also necessary in increasing the level of the curriculum researchers’ research capacities through cooperative research with world-renowned scholars.

Creation of a New Scientific Field in the Converged Research of Redox: The curriculum seeks to be the global leader in the converged research of high-tech chemistry and life & pharmaceutical science through a multifaceted conversion of the basic science fields including chemistry and life & pharmaceutical science. Moreover, the school aspires to rise as a global education/research institute through innovative basic/applied research on the biological function control and biomimetic system in the field of Redox.
Producing Globally Leading Female Scientists: The diverseness of the chemistry and life & pharmaceutical science fields will be systematically consolidated in a reciprocal manner. Through its research and education, the school will produce globally leading female scientists to put forth creative work at industrial-educational-research institutes in the rapidly developing field of converged science.
Contribution to the development of future Bioinspired technology and creation of new industries: The school will carry out active research on Bioinspired Science with the goal of biopharmaceuticals, thereby contributing towards fostering a professional bioinspired science workforce, as well as towards the development of bioinspired technology - a promising technology for the nation - and the creation of new industries.
Training/Developing a World-Class Research Group: The school will improve its research standards in the field of Bioinspired Science to that of world-class levels through close joint research with world-renowned visiting scholars. Moreover, a global leading group will be fostered in research on Redox in the molecular model based on chemistry; biological research of active oxygen based on bioscience; and research of areas that relate such basic research to the development of new drugs based on pharmacology.
