Undergraduate curriculum of life sciences is to build a foundation
for specialized manpower that are suitable for the post-genome era in life
sciences by strengthening basic courses and experimental education based on
convergence academic curriculum.
Dividing the curriculum in the larger context, basic
courses (general biology, general chemistry, physics, statistics, etc.) are
attended in freshman year in order to understand the life sciences at the
molecular level, and, in sophomore year, the course of organic, physical and
analytical chemistry, cell biology, genetics & evolution, biochemistry and
molecular biology which are foundation of the life sciences are attended. In junior
& senior year, the curriculum is consisted of physiology, embryology,
immunology, genetics, and ecology in order to understand the phenomenon of life
at the object level as well as biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology,
microbiology, etc. At the same time, strengthened the areas of bioinformatics
and medical science that are currently a new field under development of life sciences.
We strengthen the experimental subjects to ensure
internal stability of the courses, and provide opportunities for lab exercises
through Lab rotation, Global Standard Lab (GSL), outdoor exercises, etc. Also,
we are arranging the system that can help in understanding in-depth information
about the life sciences.
At the same time, provides opportunity to prepare the
foundation for the study by offering research internship during vacation, and
offers a master association process for excellent students so they can have
chance to attend postgraduate courses, which is part of operational excellence
in curriculum.
Enhance the content of basic subjects (microbiology, molecular
biology, cytology, biology, chemistry, etc.) by conducting in team teaching
method, and open various application classes (immunology, cell signaling,
molecular pharmacology, molecular genetics, etc.) and experiment courses that can
be applied to such contents. At the same time, a variety of courses required
for post-genome era (i.e. related to Bioinformatics and proteomics) are in
operations. In addition, it established Biotechnology major in order to present
the vision in basic life science research and applications, and has greatly
utilized technical writing in English and lecture by foreign professors.
