EWHA-JAX International Research Center for Cancer Immunotherapy has been established in 2015 and funded by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea. This center focuses on developing and utilizing humanized animal models for personalized immunotherapy.
This research center has been founded with support from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Korea in September 2015. Dr. Jaesang Kim (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Sanghyuk Lee, biologists from Ewha Womans University will lead this program. Dr. Charles Lee, the director of The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and Ehwa Distinguished Professor, will participate as the foreign principal investigator for this international collaboration in research and development.
The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), the most prominent research institute for developing and providing animal disease models, was established in 1929. The institute is renowned for its global research network, a wide variety of biomedical resources and educational programs for researchers of all levels. JAX has accumulated research experiences nonpareil particularly for developing humanized mice for immunotherapy. JAX researchers will lead progresses in cancer immunotherapy, the new paradigm for cancer treatment. The international collaboration with JAX will place Ewha at the forefront of biomedical research for cancer immunotherapy and will serve as a model for further international cooperation down the road.
