Introduction

The Research Center for Cellular Homeostasis (RCCH) was established on September 2012 with the reception of the Science Research Center (SRC) Fund. The SRC fund is supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea. RCCH operates annual budget of 1.5 billion Korean Won (KRW) including government funding of 1.3 billion KRW.

Members

11 researchers participate to RCCH including Director Young Dae Yun and 9 other faculty members of Department of Life Science, Ewha Womans University.

Purpose of Research

The research aim of RCCH is to understand the mechanisms of how cellular homeostasis is regulated and how dysregulation of cellular homeostasis causes various human diseases.

In particular, researchers at RCCH focus on the roles and interplays of autophagy, inflammation, and apoptosis on the regulation of cellular homeostasis. The roles of novel regulatory proteins and genes involved in the regulation of cellular homeostasis will be investigated from molecular, cellular levels to organism levels using model organisms.

In addition, by understanding the causal mechanisms of cancer and immune diseases resulted from the dysfunction of cellular homeostasis, RCCH will provide bases for the therapeutic development of such diseases.

With these research goals, RCCH aims to establish as a worldly renowned, leading research institute.
