Applying for Visa

Extension of Visa Foreign Registration

 

Required documents are subject to change and thus, you should check the exact information with the Seoul Immigration Office (Call 1345).

 

[Applying for Alien Registration Card]

To reside in Korea for more than 3 months, you must apply for an Alien Registration Card within 90 days of arrival in Korea. This permit is required regardless fo your visa status and it is of your advantage to obtain in as soon as possible. For further information, please visit the website of the Immigration Office: (http://www.hikorea.go.kr) 

Required Documents (In case of D-2 visa holder)

1. Application Form (www.hikorea.go.kr)

2. A Copy of Passport 

3. A Copy of Visa Page

4. Color Photo (3.5cm * 4.5cm)

5. A Certificate of Studentship

6.  Medical Certificate (Applicants subject to a test for tuberculosis ONLY*)

   *China, East Timor, Sri Lanka, Russia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Mongolia,       Bangladesh, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia

7. Fee (30,000 KRW as of January, 2016)

 

[Issuance of Medical Certificate]

The Ministry of Justice requires that D-2 visa holders from specific countries to submit a tuberculosis medical certificate for alien registration. The requirement applies to the following countries.

Nationality

China, East Timor, Sri Lanka, Russia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Mongolia,     Bangladesh, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia

Required Documents

1. ID Photo (3cm * 4cm)

2. Passport with valid D-2 visa

3. Fee (300 KRW)

Process

1. Visit Seodaemun-gu Health Center

*Address for Seodaemun-gu Health Center: Yeonhee-road 242, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

2. Register for the examination in the Service Room with your ID Photo, Certificate form and Passport containing a valid D-2 visa

3. Take the chest X-Ray Examination

4. Medical Certificate issued at least 1 day after examination

 

[Notification of Changes in Registration Information]

In the event of changes in any of the information listed below, Report the status change within 14 days from the date of change by visiting the Immigration office or filing an E-application at www.hikorea.go.kr.
- name, gender, date of birth, nationality, residential address in Korea, passport number, passport issue date & expiration date, school, etc.

Required Documents

3. Alien Registration Card

4. Documents proving the change (e.g. Lease contract for change in residential address)

5. Certificate of attendance from the new school (where applicable)

 

[Re-Issuance of Lost or Damaged Alien Registration Card]

 If your Alien Registration card is lost or damaged, you should apply for a new card at the Immigration Office that has jurisdiction over your area of residence within 14 days.

1. Passport

3. Evident documents about the reason for re-issuance

4. Color Photo

5. Old Alien Registration Card (If any)

6. Fee (30,000 KRW as of January, 2016)
