 (1) Up to two courses (6 credits) may be taken per semester, for a maximum of two semesters.

(2) Credits earned during non-degree status can NOT be transferred into a degree program.

 

 

Eligibility

 

l  Master’s Program/Combined Master’s and Doctoral program/Non-degree Program:

Applicant must have completed a four-year-course university or university-equivalent courses and acquired Bachelor’s degree as of August 2016.

 

l  Ph.D. Program/Non-degree Program:

Applicant must have completed post-graduate course and acquired Masters’ degree as of August 2016.

 

 

* Unless applicant obtains a degree by her entrance date, admission shall be canceled.

 

   For international students

 Applicants must be female and should meet at least one of the following three qualification requirements:

(a) An individual who is a female foreign national and whose parents are BOTH of foreign nationality and satisfies the language proficiency requirement.

(b) An individual who has completed all years of primary, secondary schooling and university education overseas, of which curriculum deems to be equivalent to the primary, secondary schooling and university in Korea and satisfies the language proficiency requirement. Please refer to “Additional requirements for international students and Korean heritage students” for language proficiency requirement. ”

(c) North Korean defector whose status is verified by the Protection Law of Korea.

Documents which are not in Korean or English must be notarized with translation. International Studies applicants must submit all application documents in English, whereas Korean Studies applicants, in Korean.

Diploma(s) or Certificate of (expected) graduation

A Bachelor/Master’s degree holder in China should attach ‘中國高等敎育學曆査詢報告’ (www.chsi.com.cn) or 中國學位認證報告’(www.cdgdc.edu.cn) as a certificate of (prospective) diploma from the last school attended.

* The letter of recommendation should be kept confidential. The letter should be directly mailed to the GSIS main office, or if the applicant delivers the letter by hand, the envelope must be sealed and signed by the recommender.

 

D. Additional requirements for international students and Korean heritage students

(1) An individual who has completed all education abroad

-       Certificates of primary, secondary, high schooling and university education

-       Language Proficiency Requirement: Applicants must meet one of the language requirements (see above language requirements box). Please submit the original copy.

(2) North Korean defector: An official document verifying status of North Korean defector

(3) An individual who is female foreign national and whose parents are both of foreign nationality

-       Passport copies of the applicant and both parents; or other official documents attesting to the nationality of the applicant and both parents

-       An official document that verify the family relationship between the applicant and both parents

-       Language Proficiency Requirement: Applicants must meet one of the following language requirements (Please submit the original copy)

A. Applicant who has the following English proficiency test scores or above in TOEFL (PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80), IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550, TOEIC 605.

B. Applicants who have obtained a high school diploma or a degree from an institution in English speaking countries.

C. Applicants who have been recognized by Ewha Womans University as possessing sufficient proficiency in English language.

 

[Applicants for Department of Korean Studies]

A. Applicants who have obtained a 4th level certificate or above in Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).

B. Applicants who have completed level 4 or above from a Korean language course at the Ewha Language Center.

C. Applicants who have completed level 4 or above from a Korean language course administered by educational institutions affiliated with regular 4-year universities in Korea

D. Applicants who have obtained a high school diploma or a degree from an institution taught in Korean.

E. Applicants who have been recognized by Ewha Womans University as possessing sufficient proficiency in Korean language.

F. Applicant who has the following English proficiency test scores or above in TOEFL (PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80), IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550, TOEIC 605.

G. Applicants who have obtained a high school diploma or a degree from an institution in English speaking countries.

Note

 

l  Any matters which are not specified in this admissions guide will be pursuant to the decisions of the Ewha GSIS Admissions Review Committee.

 

l  Application

1.    Applicants who have attended more than two colleges or universities should write down all schools they have attended on the application form.

2.    Once the application is registered, cancellation of the application is not available, and the documents and admission fee are not subject to be returned to the applicant.

3.    Applicants will not be accepted if they fail to submit the required documents by the deadline, even though on-line application is completed. Also, documents that are submitted after the application deadline will not be taken into account in the evaluation.

4.    No submitted documents or records will be returned to the applicant.

5.    GSIS office may ask an applicant to submit additional documents not listed above, if there is a need to verify the authenticity of submitted documents.

 

l  Evaluation Process

1.    Applicants who do not attend the interview will have their application to be terminated.

2.    Applicants should bring their national ID card and admission ticket to the interview. Possession or use of a cell phone or PDA is not allowed during the interview.

3.    Details of the evaluation process and scores shall not be disclosed.

4.    Even scored applicants will be treated according to the rules of Ewha Graduate School Admission.

5.    Even if the number of applicants is fewer than the volume of recruitment, applicants who do not meet the academic requirements of Ewha GSIS, will be refused admission according to the Ewha Admission Review Committee.

6.    In cases where the applicant is found to be ineligible for application, or has made any misrepresentation/ alteration to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy), or has perpetrated any other kind of fraud, the university may deny or revoke the applicant’s admission or enrollment. This applies even if the fraudulence poses no immediate effect on the applicant’s passing of admission. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked for this reason may not reapply for admission to the university in the future.

 

l  Registration

1.    Accepted students should pay the tuition within the designated time period.

2.    Applicants who will not enroll in school or who want to be refunded the whole tuition are required to submit an Admission Withdrawal and Application for Tuition Repayment form to GSIS office.

3.    The refund of tuition will be conducted according to the “Rules of Education and Entrance Fee” by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST).
