4.00 pm Keynote Address: TBA- “On topic regarding conflict, development or ecology”

The aim of this gathering is to bring together approximately 50-75 academics, practitioners, students and activists (from UPEACE, Hannam, the Daejeon community and a few special guests) with an interest in conflict resolution, international development, culture, ecology, and peace education methodologies and practices.

Among possible topics for panels and plenary discussions are the following:

· Dynamics of Global Change

· Poverty and International Development

· The UN System and Peacebuilding

· NGOs in World Affairs

· Human Rights, Gender and Development

· Intercultural Communication and Conflict

· Artistic Approaches to Conflict Resolution

· Community Development and Social Transformation

· Globalization and Culture

· Peace Education

· Peace Journalism

· Challenges to International Education in East Asia

· Case Studies in Environmental Practices

· Emergencies in Ecology




We are Calling for Proposals for 90 minute concurrent sessions (2:00-3:30pm). We plan for several concurrent sessions of practitioner and student-led presentations. Each session will have approximately four speakers (or groups of speakers) addressing similar content. Each speaker is allotted 15 minutes to present with all presentations conducted in English. Sessions can either model particular conflict resolution methods or be paper presentations.




There are no conference fees.

If you are interested in presenting, submit an abstract of your presentation (max. 200 words with short bios) no later than October 15 to Kevin Kester at 
kevinajkester@yahoo.com. Please write 'Encounter proposal' in the subject of the message.
