Participants discussed about the success of micro finance which is today over
$50 bln loan to over 100mln micro-entrepreneurs. For example, SKS Micro finance
in India and Banco Compartamos in Mexico have significance portion of equity
capital by investors. Although blending of financial and social returns are not
new, participants conclude that impact investing is still young and emergence
of intermediaries and investors is only recent since last decade. Along with
the main topic, frameworks for dialogue and research about social impact
investing, a new approach to funding social enterprises and social finance have
been discussed in the seminar.
