Abstract

 “Gerontechnology” is defined as the application of mobile health (mHealth) technologies to elderly populations. It has conceptual value as a means to enhance preventative or therapeutic approaches to care and has therefore emerged as a key consideration in innovative healthcare approaches for today’s rapidly growing older population. In this review, we consider our pertinent experiences developing and deploying technology in clinical studies facilitated by Wellframe in 2014 and 2015, specifically in orientation to cardiac rehabilitation and care of patients with chronic psychiatric disorders. Wellframe is a Boston-based digital medicine company focused on building the next generation of infrastructure for clinical care delivery by combining artificial intelligence, medicine, and cloud-based computer systems. Goals of these projects have centered on the premise of facilitating treatments to patients with chronic disease that are more personalized (reliable patient-centered healthcare) and herald many opportunities for improved care of older adults.

“Gerontechnology”는 모바일 헬스 기술을 노년기 인구에 적용한 것을 의미한다. 이는 치료에 대한 예방 및 접근 방식을 향상시키는 수단으로서 개념적 가치를 지니며 오늘날 급격하게 증가하고 있는 노년인구에 대한 혁신적인 의료 접근 방식으로 제고되고 있다. 인간의 수명 증가와 출생 감소로 인한 고령화 인구는 의료, 및 임상 분야에서 사회 및 경제적 비용을 발생시키고 있다. 의료의 질과 양을 증가시킬 수 있는 Gerontechnology는 잠재력 있는 수단으로 여겨진다. 이 리뷰에서 연구진들은 2014년과 2015년에 Wellframe이 개시하였던 심장 재활 및 만성 정신 장애 치료 기술 개발 경험들을 검토했다. 그 결과, 연구진들은 사용자와 의료 전문가 간의 관계를 구축하고 새로운 커뮤니케이션 채널을 여는 기술이 우선되어야 하며, 사용자 중심 디자인을 구축하여 장기적으로 접근성과 참여를 확대하여야 한다고 제언하였다.
