Abstract |
This paper presents some of the results obtained during the development of the VIAS | ViseuInter Age Stories Project. VIAS aims to promote intergenerational collaborative interaction practices, fostering a greater sense of belonging to a community and supporting healthier and more inclusive lifestyles. The main goal of the project is the development of a collaborative App, in a participatory design approach, to challenge youth and elderly to create collaboratively stories about places of their city. We describe an intergenerational workshop carried out with children and senior citizens (n = 22)aiming to map places of cultural and natural heritage in the historical centre of Viseu that are relevant and meaningful to both the children and the elderly inhabitants. We also explore the interaction dynamics that can be shaped between generations while they strive to build their collaborative tales about some of those places, assessing the kind of technological tools that are deployed. The results of this workshop provided valuable information that would help to define the functional requirements and the conceptual model of the application for mobile devices (App). |
