Eigenvalues, eigenfunctions and their applications

Abstract:
In this talk, we will discuss about eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of linear operators. We first remind the definition of eigenvalues and eigenvecotors (eigenfunctions) of linear systems of finite dimensional vector spaces as well as linear differential operators. The most of this presentation is devoted to showing how eigenvalues and eigenfunctions can be used in many areas of engineering.  We discuss about their applications such as google’s page rank, image compression, photonic waveguides and etc.
